Now it focuses on my future life \u2014 the life that I am living following the great unravelling of 45 years \u2014 three of romance, forty-two of marriage, the sale of the house we shared, and, now, stepping off to a new life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So begins, \u201cWilliam and Wilson on The (W)Road\u201d \u2014 Steinbeck wrote \u201cTravels with Charlie\u201d then Phillbrick (my high school classmate) wrote&nbsp; \u201cTravels with George\u201d. They are inspiration, models perhaps, but not competitors. My companion is Wilson, a border collie mix and rescue. And I am William \u2013 a given name, never used.
